Armen Haghnazarian (Hakhnazarian, 5 May 1941, Tehran, Iran - 18 February 2009, Germany) was a Doctor of Architecture, founding Director of Research on Armenian Architecture (RAA) organisation.[1]
Armen Haghnazarian's father, Doctor of Linguistics Hovhanes Haghnazarian, was a native of Agulis. From 1961 until 1968, Haghnazarian studied Architecture at Aachen University, Germany.[2] Then he studied Urban planning at the same university. In 1973 he graduated from the university as Dr. Ing. Architekt-Planner.
Since the 1960s Haghnazarian made scientific expeditions to Iran, Western Armenia, Cilicia, Artsakh, Syria and other historical places, published researches on historical monuments of Armenia.[3] In 1978 he founded the Research on Armenian Architecture NGO, which has branches in Aachen, Los Angeles and Yerevan, with a number of collaborators in different countries.
From 1984 to 1994, he taught in the Faculty of Urban Planning at Aachen State University.
